On the day of your operation or procedure, get ready at home.

  • Follow your doctor’s instructions for eating, drinking and taking medications, supplements and other remedies.
  • Do not wear makeup, nail polish or jewelry.
  • We recommend you leave unnecessary valuables and jewelry at home on the day of your surgery. For any valuables you do bring to the center, such as your wallet, you will have the option of placing it in a secure storage locker or having your accompanying adult hold on to it for you from pre-op to recovery.
  • Bring a case for glasses, contact lenses or dentures, if you wear them.
  • Bring insurance card, government-issued photo identification, and form of payment for any co-payments or co-insurance due from you.
  • Arrive at the Surgery Center at your scheduled time allowing one to 1.5 hours to get ready for the procedure or surgery.
When you arrive at the Surgery Center on the day of surgery, you can expect:
  • A member of our staff greets you; they will complete your preadmission and registration process.
  • A nurse will escort you to a private area where you will change into a gown. A few simple tests such as blood pressure, temperature, etc. will be done. A nurse will ask you for a brief medical history.
  • If you are having general anesthesia, an anesthesia specialist will meet with you to discuss anesthesia.  Be prepared to talk about your recent health history, chronic medical conditions, prescription and over-the-counter medications, allergies, past experiences with anesthesia (and experiences of blood relatives), and your use of alcohol, tobacco or illegal drugs.
